Shifts
in rainfall patterns due to Climate change:
The values listed in Tables 1 to 4 are based upon historical
rainfall patterns and it is likely that these will alter in
an as yet undetermined manner as a result of climate change.
At present no one really knows how global warming will affect
Ireland’s climate but current models suggest that winter
rainfall intensity will increase and that longer dry spells
will be experienced during summer months. Larger tanks perform
better under these conditions and those concerned about the
possibility of future water shortages may wish to consider
increasing the storage volume by one tank size over what is
recommended in Tables 2, 3 and 4.
